Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Well, it's Labor Day, but no labor here- YET!  So instead I'll blog while Remy naps...let's talk vintage.  For baby.

I have loved thrifting and vintage clothes for myself for a long time now.  I think that having one or two things that aren't "off-the-rack" or trend pieces in your closet just makes your wardrobe more robust and unique.  I have found that I have bought, sold, and traded these pieces over time as well.  Any well heeled woman can attest to owning at least ONE piece of vintage, or used or thrifted, or passed down...call it what you will.

After having a baby, my thrifting days became a little shorter, depending on my new sidekick's  mood and tolerance level, and the aisles I browsed went from women's to baby.  If you follow my Instagram, you can see Remy wearing vintage pieces here and there in my feed, including the cover photo above.  I can't get enough of the thrill of the hunt!  A couple years ago I started an Etsy shop to showcase some of these vintage baby thread finds and make them available for purchase.  It has been a fun hobby, and something I was able to continue even after baby!  Remy goes thrifting ride alongside momma and she scopes out the racks as we roll by at her level, while momma digs through the racks up top.  Occasionally there are melt downs, and sometimes when hubby is home I treat myself to a jaunt solo, but overall it is such fun  to take her along for the ride too.

Since starting my shop, Rolypolyz, I have seen many designer mommas, like Emily Current of Current + Elliott and her adorable babe wearing Osh Kosh above, as well as blogger mommies and creative Instagram mommies dressing their babes in vintage.  Oh, and I can't forget to mention the Prince George himself sparking a craze for smocked boating rompers!  From the original Osh Kosh overalls, the ones that are 100% cotton, made in U.S.A., the kind we wore when we were little, to the frilly smocked dresses with matching bloomers, there is a serious cool vibe happening in the crib zone as of late.

My shop, Rolypolyz, has definitely seen a rise in clicks, and I am happy to say quite a positive number of reviews from happy mommas.  Sometimes, it's hard posting some of my finds for sale!  I also find it fascinating to see or hear where my finds are going; most recently to Indonesia, Brazil, and Germany.  The Australians seem to love the stuff, as do New Yorkers and Californians.  It's also fun to gift a momma friend a Rolypolyz item along with a Target find or registry item because I know it will be unique.

Vintage baby clothes aren't for everyone, that's for sure, but in this house, an 80's track suit jacket or a 70's boho top will definitely be in circulation with the Carter's and Circo baby laundry.  Do you have any pieces from when you were a baby?  I have a couple items my mom saved that are in good condition and it was fun to dress Remy in them 30 years later!  Looking forward to having them on another future chub...any day now!
