Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Amanda Parer Intrude Art Installation Denver Tour

Amanda Parer Intrude Art Installation Denver Tour

BUNNIES!  Giant bunnies have hopped into downtown Denver in the Republic Office Tower Plaza (16th Street Mall at Tremont/Court).  The Australian artists Amanda Parer has created giant nylon inflatable bunnies, installation art and they are currently touring North America.  Currently resting in Denver, you can catch them this weekend again!  See more details about the artist and her work here. Rabbits are an animal of contradiction per the artist.  Cute and cuddly, but also a pest and considered a menace in her homeland of Australia.  "Through Intrude, Parer hopes to move people to thoughtfully consider how humans can change and dominate the environment."- PR Web.

Although I had originally seen images of them pop up in my Instagram a few weeks ago from their visit to San Fran, I have to say I was sort of deflated when I saw them in person here.  They looked much larger in scale and more prominent in San Fran and we were all sort of not totally impressed, enamored or provoked in any way by the installation here.  Could it be the way in which they were curated and displayed here?  I know the Republic Plaza is known for their art installations, but having only two on the main court side and so close together, in the blazing sun, and hearing the buzz of the inflation machines was sort of a bummer.  Anyone else?  Feel free to chime in down in the comments...

Last week we went downtown as a family to pay the bunnies a visit.  We brought along our own stuffed white bunnies to see their big mommas.  Remy picked out her own footwear, see Hunter rain boots below... and that little dress on Arlo was a total thrift score, vintage, with the original Target hang tag on it from gosh knows how long ago- darling!  F

First we found awesome parking a couple blocks away, then we popped in Novo Coffee, friends of ours, on Glenarm,  Then we spotted the bunnies!  Arlo though they were a bouncy castle and plopped on the leg of one!  Good thing it cushioned her!  We told them not to touch or lean on them, but kids definitely viewed the art as toys.  Next, we stopped in Cook's Fresh Market on our way to the car.  We grabbed some pasta and spanikopita- yum!  Remy HAD to have the sour patch kids!  We had planned to go to the splash pad outside Union Station, AGAIN, we love it so much, but only if we found amazing parking because it was getting late.  Sure enough, we found a meter right outside Wazee Supperclub, a place I STILL HAVE NEVER BEEN but would love to try, and it was just blocks away.  We splashed and splashed and they made a friend with an older girl who squirted them with her foot holding down a spray.  They were sad when she had to leave!

We ended with ice cream at Milkbox Ice Creamery in Union Station, AGAIN, because how can we NOT?!  It was a PERFECT Thursday really...

Also, it's officially summer out there!  Any big summer trips, activities planned?!

Here are some pics below of our afternoon.  You can catch the bunnies this weekend too see details from Denver Post here.
