Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Aurora's Summer Concerts 80's Night

Aurora's Summer Concerts 80's Night

Last week the girls and I packed up after an early dinner and headed over to the Aurora Municipal Center to enjoy the last concert in the Aurora's Summer Concert series this year!  I was SO glad we caught it, because it just so happened to be 80's night, momma's favorite, and the sponsor of the evening, 6 Million Dollar Band really did a tubular job!  (I am so corny!) BIG thank you to a friend of mine for reminding us about these FREE and local concerts put on by the city of Aurora, a friend whom I just so happened to meet AT an Aurora park, Del Mar, ironically!  She has two young boys, also very close in age, and I was glad we were able to meet up again.

Do you have momma friends like that too?!  Mommas you meet out places like parks, book stores, the Chik-fil-A play area, and then you do the whole momma dating thing.  After you see your kiddos are getting along, you gather information, ages, schools, the area of town they live in to see if it might be close enough for future playdates, and then before you leave you scramble for your phone awkwardly and ask for their phone number to get together again, you know, for the kids...Oh, that's just me?!  I'll be the fist to admit, I am very chatty and when I am feeling a good momma vibe thing going, I totally go for it.  I wish I could meet ALL these mommas up more often.  I guess that's my little PA for mommas to put yourselves out there, get acquainted, meet other mommas of all walks of life and mingle.  I guess not having a regular place of employment, has sort of funneled all of that energy into making motherhood my full time career and that includes networking, continuing ed, and social aspects too!  Being able to stay home is so fulfilling  to me, and I have mentioned before, that it hasn't been lonely or isolating one bit, in my experience personally, but you can stretch your interpersonal communication skills too if you have found yourself in a little momma bubble and social slump since staying home.  A good ice breaker I find is, "She's so cute! How old is she?"  Haha!  I am by no means giving "momma dating" advice here, but I am a firm believer in creating the community and "work environment" that suits YOUR needs.  We have ONE life and I SO thankful and still in shock that every day I get to wake up, and yes change diapers and warm milk, but I get to spend it HOW I want with WHO I want and WHERE!  It truly never gets boring when you realize you have the power to let the day take you and your kiddos anywhere or nowhere.  I remember when I was fired from a severely toxic corporate job, I would sit in my car on my lunch breaks and nap from the emotional exhaustion of the incredibly poisonous personalities I worked with, and I would tell myself, "I just want to be able to sit in a park at 11 am on a Tuesday."  Here I am.  Well, it's actually 12 am on a Thursday and I am sitting in bed blogging, but TOMORROW!  Tomorrow, I will be sitting in a baby pool with my girls!  That's where we are right now.  I do know that the next place of employment has a lot to live up to after this little resume pause I am in!

Back to music in the parks!  What fun!!!  You can see on my Instagram account the little clips of the girls dancing!  Arlo is HILARIOUS!  (@haleebandhoney)  Speaking of Instagram, what is with all their updates and changes and now Snapchat copycat stuff?!?!? #annoying The REASON I LOVE(d) Instagram was because it was NOT Snapchat... urgh...

Since we had just ate dinner I just grabbed water bottles, baggies of popcorn, some fruit snacks (yes I think they are HORRIBLE, but we brush very well to get rid of that gunk and they are a total TREAT around here), and I plopped a blanket down I had in the back of the car.  The concert was filled with great music, Madonna, Journey, and the kids had so much grass to dance and play soccer and kick up cartwheels on.  When we met up with our friends, they had a bubble mating and her son had brought his backpack full of trains and their neighbor was racing the double stroller with her kids and mine around the Municipal sidewalks in the background!  Don't worry, only two babes in at a time, all strapped in nice and safe, and their neighbor was light jogging!

This was just the sort of thing I wished husband had been able to come to!  He had soccer that night and missed out!  Last year I had went to the one at Utah Park and that was fun, but this year they got food sponsors to come to each concert which is great, because technically you could just purchase and eat your dinner there.  Also, the venue was MUCH better at the Municipal Center as the lawn was flatter and wider and we caught a gorgeous sunset and PERFECT weather!  Thank you City of Aurora and all the sponsors for making this possible!

Until next year...

Side Notes: (Um...Arlo's thighs in bloomers...and I caught Remy grabbing Arlo and pulling he run for a hug mid-dance session to "Hey Mickey You're So Fine," and typical of fussy Arlo, she pulls away.  Remy has been such a GREAT listener, and an awesome helper with Arlo lately, like a HUGE, big, noticeable shift and really tender and loving with her at times.  I am catching more times than not, it is Arlo who is whiny and not receiving affection well.  Sisters.  I LOVE how I am seeing their sisterhood evolve...)
