Cul-de-Sac Cruising 2
We have been spending many nights in the cul-de-sac with neighbors. I love trailing behind them armed with my camera, practicing and trying to bottle up their delicious childhood. I listen, I spy, I ask questions, I point things out, we tour and investigate, play and explore, all right next door. Here are some photos from last fall out in the cul-de-sac. We have been eating dinner on the back patio so when the kids start accumulating down on our end and we start to hear tag calls and wheels against pavement, the girls start to get excited to finish up and see their friends out front. Some days, it's just us, after long, late afternoon naps, with sweaty bed heads and lunch stained clothes and bare feet, sometimes we head straight outside for fresh air and sunshine to wake us up.
I wanted to try capturing them in evening light the other day and we started out wandering around the cup-de-sac and then little friends across the street peered out their window and came to join in on our conversation over sprinklers and wet webs. Remy attempted to ride her scooter a bit, and Arlo mostly sat on the tricycle and rang the bell and watched intensely as the neighbor boy scooted by and around her. He explained to us that his scooter had a camera on it. We let him take our picture. It was really the part that secures the handle bar onto the post, but we'll let him figure that out when he goes to edit his photos. Haha!
The evening sprinklers in another neighbor's yard were a hit with Arlo and Remy and they would stick their hands in front of the spray and wetting their hands and then running towards us to cool us down! Baba came out of the house after cleanup and he ran and played with them. The neighbor littles weren't as aquatically adventurous and didn't appreciate wet hands on their bare legs.
I love Arlo's bronze skin against this little thrifted Nike tank! My favorite capture was Remy being quite a little pest when we happened upon the neighbor who was holding a rolli polli. Somehow Remy ended up with it and the look on her face is pretty mischievous.
How are you enjoying lazy, late summer evenings?
