"D" is for Donuts!
Not a secret we are ALL fans of donuts around here!
Pretty fitting that I ended up marrying a guy who spent his high school evenings baking donuts for his uncle's Winchell's Donut Shop! We pass by the shop on the days Remy has school, but surprisingly, this Wednesday was the first day I actually stopped in! Arlo and I usually have a routine of heading the opposite direction to the library or we do errands, so it was fun to make a point to go there for a donut one day after dropping Remy off.
And actually, it's sort of an errand that I get to go back tomorrow morning BEFORE drop off because they need donut holes for snack time treat to celebrate letter "d" that they studied this week. Guess I'll have to get another cinnamon sugar cake donut....SO. GOOD.
I love how Arlo had her own ideas about "sprinkles." She sometimes HAS to bring her backpack along on school days as well, and she found her Trolls color form in there. She is SO excited about school and she will be VERY ready come fall. We are thinking of sending her to the exact same school, and hopefully she gets the same teacher/table as Remy. It seems Arlo already has her seat picked out. She is pretty comfy around there.
I have some great quality time with my LoLo on school mornings. It's not a TON of time, but it's just her and I and spending one-on-one time with BOTH of my girls is important to me. We are sort of ticking back into a spring routine around here. Husband signed them up for soccer one night a week. They tried it out Wednesday night and it gave me ALONE time, MUCH needed, to go to pilates and run errands, hit the grocery and eat dinner in quiet. The best part, they had daddy time AND they LOVED this particular soccer group. We have tried it a couple of times before at various facilities, but this has been the best experience by far for BOTH girls.
I also just signed them up for more swimming lessons! They both attended at different times, but then we somehow stopped Remy when she went to school, and then stopped Arlo because the next session was full, then we had holidays, and now we are headed back to the pool. Swimming is something we feel strongly they need to learn for SAFETY and comfort in and around bodies of water. I could care less if they take it further, not looking to have swim meets and Olympians out of it, O would be happy if they learn the basics, and can handle their own, SAFELY and CALMLY, in a pool setting. The neat thing is they both left off at the same level so they get to take class together- which helps so much in scheduling! The benefits of having them so close together are coming to fruition now, and probably even more when they both attend school.
It has been cold and GREY here today. And windy. I don't care for the wind, or the gloom. I don't have any qualms about it. It's winter after all people. We NEED more moisture terribly. So until then, we have sprinkled donuts to brighten our days. When we walked in there was a table with two older gentlemen seated. They were taking bets as to what donut Arlo would go for. They definitely were guessing the sprinkles! At first Arlo said, 'CHOCOLATE!" But then she ultimately went for sprinkles... They got a good chuckle out of it. They saw me taking photos and asked if the donuts smiled for me when I took their picture, I said, "Oh, they wink!" It was fun to meet and chat with them. Apparently they are regulars. Like EVERY. DAY. Regulars. I LOVE that!
I was happy we stopped in and we got to see family and good friends. That's the best when you get donuts in such a friendly, sunny place! Look at those awesome yellow retro benches! I DO hope those stay!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!
