Del Mar Family Aquatic Center
We have officially christened our swimsuits for the season! Last Friday we headed to the Del Mar Family Aquatic Center in Aurora, near our hood, for some family fun in the sun. We met up with a few little friends and fellow mommas too. We found out about Del Mar Pool late last summer, but it was already nearing close of the season, so it has been on our summer hit list this year. Now Arlo is walking and able to truly enjoy what the splash pads and pools are all about, I can tell this summer is going to be a fun and memorable one with the littles!
After our daily oatmeal breakfast with a side of eggs, we decided to stop in City Donuts, right across the street from the park on 6th & Peoria, for a donut to celebrate National Donut Day! City Donuts was voted by Denver has having one of the best in town, and they deserve that honor! Loving the cinnamon crunch and the sprinkled cake donuts!
We were all slathered up in sunscreen before leaving the house, and suited up, I felt prepared and ready to play lifeguard and splash with my girls. I forgot my swimsuit bottoms, oops, hazards of being the last to get ready and rushed to get out the door, but I had a swimsuit top and lycra pants ready to roll up and stomp around the kiddie pool after these two. Also, it was FANTASTIC to have Baba home and with us!!! Soooo nice to have two pairs of eyes and two sets of hands at the ready with these little water babies. Swim lessons are definitely on the agenda. We have a great pool blocks from the house, Utah Park, which we are considering since it is so close, convenient and has an excellent reputation.
This water park guys! This would be SO FUN for the 5 and up group! There are a couple large water slides with tubes for teens and adults, and bigger kids, along with a whole tiny water park with slides. Our girls were still too small, you need to be about 42 inches to ride the slides, AND, this is important, we found out they have to ride the slides by themselves. Frustrating but understandable! Best for them to know how to swim probably, or be okay with about a foot of water in the landing of the slide part too. That's why I say like 5 and up. There weren't many kiddos in that area sadly. Hubby rode both slides and smiled ear to ear! There's also a HUGE pool, and a diving board area. Truly fun for everyone in your group.
We mostly hung out in the shallow end of the wading pool with floaties on. We wished there was more of a splash pad per say for the under five set, but still we had a fun day.
It does cost to get in. It was $17 for all for of us, and we are residents. Check the Aurora Parks and Gov site for more info!
Have you guys been to Del Mar yet?! We are always looking for some parks with splashing to cool off. What's your fave? We also LOVE the splash pad at Union Station downtown, and Great Plains Park in Aurora, which you can read about here! Share in the comments below for all of us to discover!
