Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Denver Botanic Gardens Mordecai Children's Garden

Denver Botanic Gardens Mordecai Children's Garden

Last Friday we had SUNSHINE!  It has been a rainy, gloomy, grey mess around these parts so when we catch a sunny day, we are truly grabbing it by the horns! I thought it would be fun to head to the Denver Botanic Gardens Mordecai Children's Garden area.  Doesn't sound like much, but I seriously had to sigh and tell myself out loud, "Okay, here we go..." As I packed the outdoor/water park bag for the day.  Here we go with the sunscreen, sun hats, swim diaper (for Arlo), dry clothes, wipes, on and on and on... Anyone else with me on having a love/loathe relationship with summer/outdoor activities and babies. I wouldn't call myself an outdoorsy person, but with kiddos, you sort of become more of a nature lover.  The Mordecai Gardens is one of those places where kids go bananas playing in a small natural river rock area with water and go barefoot and moms sort of half smile, as they have to clean out sandy diapers before naps and wring out wet clothes and find somewhere to stow them away. I have been here before so I sort of knew the drill, but my friend was better prepared than I.  She always is!  Have you got a friend like that?  The one who has the cool snacks, the treats for meltdowns, extra sunscreen, toys?  She is my Mary Poppins friend!  This time she had buckets and squirt toys for the water area, AND she had these amazing Hello Kitty water bottles and Mickey Mouse lollipops from her recent Disney World trip,  She's the best- thank you!

I screwed the Hello Kitty tops off the water bottles and the girls are fighting over them in the bath nightly.  We are simply amused over here.  It was fun to get back into the springtime swing, for a day at least!  Sunday was chilly and overcast with sprinkles and Sunday was similar.  Coloradans know how to handle the elements though, so that's sort of a fun part of raising kiddos here.  We are always prepared for anything!

So, back to having that outdoor bag packed and prepped... what's in yours?  I should really just have ONE bag for these sorts of activities prepped and ready to go at all times.  It would save me a ton of time.  This day I forgot an extra pair of undies for Remy, but we improvised and she was able to wear her cotton shorts without.  I may have one or two things I forgot, but this momma does know a work-around!
