Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Merry Christmas!

How many of you take annual family photos for holiday greeting cards?  Well, I never did until I had a baby!  I never really quite understood the "photo card" until I had her!  It's like pulling teeth to get my husband to want to dress up and pose, but miraculously, somehow, a little chubby baby coaxed him into it.  Not having a big budget for a professional photographer, we had a good friend of mine snap some shots at a park near our house.  Back in early November, the time of day we had on our agendas to do this little family photo shoot was not exactly the best lighting as the sun was directly above us.  Despite the harsh lighting, the bugs crawling on us, and an antsy infant, she was able to snap quite a few memorable shots.  Shutterfly sends out numerous coupon codes, savings cards in the mail and after discounts when you sign up to their e-mails, so I basically got about 50% off my order and free shipping.  I was on top of it this year and I think I had them postmarked by December 1st.

I definitely learned a thing or two about taking pics with a baby.  Try on the outfits beforehand- including accessories!    I loved this gold floral headband but it was way too big for her tiny head and hubby thinks she looks like a boy when she is minus a bow in these photos- I think she is adorable no matter what, and friends and family we sent cards to obviously know she's a girl.  Check the calendar to see when the sun is highest, schedule around that big ball o fire!  I am sure there are other things I am forgetting to mention, but those stand out to me.

Did you send out holiday cards this year?  That is one Christmas tradition I have been doing since my single girl days and hope to continue.  It is so sad that not many people can shoot a "hello" in the mail but once a year.  I will say we received a SUPER gorgeous, animated, singing e-card from a neighbor.  We just can't hang it on the mantle!

Here's a few photos from that day!

Have a very Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season...Thanks be to God!
