Early Easter Egg Hunt
Last week we were invited to a little Easter Egg hunt that a friend's church group had arranged at an assisted living home. What a wonderful way to celebrate Christ our Savior, bringing happiness and smiles to our blessed elderly community. I have been thinking a LOT about service and giving back, and ONE big big thing that lingers is how I would love to volunteer at a nursing home in my community. So many of our aging citizens are here, with us, waiting for a hug, a smile, a tender touch, a story. This really pulls at my heart. I would love to find a permanent place to visit regularly. Husband says the girls are a bit young now, but I am not 100% sure he is right...Don't you feel that babies and kiddos act like a good dose of sunshine? I am still mulling this idea over. Perhaps I go myself until they are older.
So this particular morning last week was full of blue skies and sun, but BRISK, brisk, brisk... Husband had been out of town the weekend before so he took the day off to spend some time with us. We made a quick stop for coffee and tights to cover little legs before the egg hunt.
I had a bit of fun and dressed the girls in vintage dresses and sweaters! I can't resist a CLASSIC Easter dress look! I grew up having special Easter clothes, and brings warm and lovely memories thinking about those backyard egg hunts and church Sundays in a new dress and dress shoes. Occasionally there'd be snow on the ground and a bulky neon nylon puffer coat topped off the look. Here's hoping for sunshine this year!
This little egg hunt was the sweetest, thanks dear friend for the invitation! Cookies and juice after a little egg hunting and their church group actually made these adorable spring paper egg ornaments to give to the residents. Such a thoughtful momento. The girls were playing with those plastic eggiest all afternoon.
I have been given a request by Remy these last couple of days for a stuffed bunny, purple. I will relay the message to Mr. Easter Bunny promptly. I remember getting a stuffed bunny in my basket many years! And those jelly beans rolling around under plastic hay...ahhhh...Easter candy is my FAVE FAVE!!!! Thinking of little trinkets Mr. Easter Bunny can put in some gorgeous plastic eggs I found for him...and I also helped the guy out and found some Calico Critters on sale the other day, the bunny family that Remy has literally lost her (s*#!@) over before in stores.
What family memories do you have of Easter?
