A few weeks ago, the girls and I headed back out to Olathe to visit my Dad. After not seeing him for a couple years. we made sure to make up for it this fall. We wanted to go back out across the Rocky mountains before the snow flies because it is quite a long drive away. Guess what though? We caught some snowflakes after all flying in Breckenridge on our way over there! The first night we were there, Dad decided to take us to the back end of his property lines, somewhere I hadn't had the privilege of seeing yet. Having the girls sort of prevented me from trekking out there before after dark with nursing, bathing and bed time routines, but on this adventure, with the girls now running, we were able to catch the sunset and back pack out there with some S'mores and some sparklers.
The girls loved hiking back there and following Pa's makeshift path he has so carefully set all the way. Remy was so focused on everything Pa was doing to get the fire going. She wanted to help and jabbed at some first outside the fire pit with a little spade before the fire was lit. Arlo had fun wobbling and teetering along a stump bench. Once the flames were going, we pulled out the Hersey's bars and graham crackers! The girls shoved chocolates and marshmallows into their tiny mouths and even tried roasting a couple marshmallows on some found branches.
This evening was super special and memorable for so many reasons. So thankful and glad we made it out there for another visit this year. Love you Dad! Unconditional love, that of your father's and that for your children...
Arlo's wearing: Thrifted knit hooded cardigan, Soft Gallery romper and thrifted wellies.
