Thanksgiving Day: Gobble! Gobble!
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! I started the day with a pilates reformer class at The Studio of Unique Fitness, and then came home and watched the parade as I made my green bean casserole and sweet potatoes. That parade! I LOVE it! Someday I hope to get to NYC to see it live.
We went to my mom's and she made a HUGE turkey! And it was SO GOOD guys! Thanks momma! We were lucky enough to be sent home with leftovers and husband and I have literally had turkey and cranberry sauce sammies everyday since! Seriously. It was so moist! My mom swears by the Butterball turkeys and cooking in the bag, and I think I'll take her advice if I ever get brave enough to host! My sister and her daughter made the mashed potatoes and a broccoli casserole, AND brought a pumpkin pie. And the stuffing inside the bird- ohhh... one of my favorites at Thanksgiving!
Our dinner was sweet and intimate with just my mom, us, my older sister and her daughter and my younger brother's daughter. We were missing all the guys! Also missing was my older brother, his wife and two daughters as they went to my sister-in-law's brother's house. So, it was a small group of adults and four sweet little girls. Quiet, and we were all able to SIT and chat and enjoy the beautiful meal together. Thanksgiving- we thank you for getting all of these families together to break bread together! Sad that it takes a whole year to make it happen. Trying to work on that. Back in August I hosted a pizza night at our house, but I was really hoping to do something once a month. #goals
For Thanksgiving dinner, I dressed the girls up in MATCHY pink frilly dresses for the special occasion! I don't think Thanksgiving requires dressing up, UP, not like Christmas Eve or Christmas, but this year I was feeling festive and I found these last week and they were half off! I tried to find two that coordinated but these were my favorite, and they were the right sizes for my girls so I went for it and we did twinning on turkey day! I love these dresses!
We skipped naps this day as dinner was at 2 pm, so the girls were pretty tired by the time we got home, and after we battled some weird traffic coming home. It was a LONG, adrenaline filled day, so we called it a night after coming home. No Black Friday shopping here al though I was THIS close to attempt scoping out my local Target just because after I put the girls down to bed, but I was too tired to go! Did you head out for any shopping? Find any deals?!
We wrapped up the weekend with putting Christmas lights up on the house, and finding our tree! We have been putzing away over her at home in our socks and stretchy pants and putting on an ornament here and adding some baubles and lights over there. Here's a tip: don't pay full price for Christmas lights! Head to your local thrift store and get them for peanuts! JUST BE SURE TO TRIPPPLE CHECK THEM ON A POWER STRIP BEFORE BUYING! I have had great luck so far finding incredible Christmas decor and lights at the thrift. Our tree was so full I needed two more strands so we popped over to Arc and for $4 we were able to get two strands! We also picked some up the other day when we decided to add some on the peak of our house! So far, all lit up still! They were about $3.99 a strand and we caught a sale Friday and Saturday and the tags were half off!
Hope that you all had a peaceful day filled with family, friends and good food. So very thankful, truly.
My pajama deer printed blouse is from Zara a while ago but this cat printed one is pretty cool! Thrifted acid wash high waist jeans that I love (similar here). I also felt fancy and underlined my eyes with this stick by Bobbi Brown. Mine is in an ice blue, older season, but a new gold one would make a great stocking stuffer! Wink! Wink!
