Great Plains Park Aurora
A couple weeks ago we met up with cousins at the splash pad at Great Plains Park in Aurora. We visited the park a couple times last year too which you can see here! The girls had fun running around, but Remy seems more cautious these days at the splash pads and stays on the outskirts, not really going for it and running through. The age? Her temperament? Who knows, but Arlo was still curious and more fearless than all the rest of her elder cousins and big sister, but being little also means getting ganged up on with water balloons on top of your head! The girls circled around Arlo and popped tiny water balloons they had brought to the park right atop her sunhat. Arlo didn't quite know what to make of it, was this really awesome that her favorite friends were laughing and giggling and it was because of her? Or should she be a little cold and startled? She sort of whimpered and came over to momma for consolation.
The older girls seemed to be getting to cold in the water park, which was unfortunate because the spray felt pretty good to me on such a hot day! We ended up packing up and going to the pool, but I want to take the girls again another time. The water was cold, but come on, didn't we run through sprinklers like ALL DAY, every day in summer as kids?!
That rainbow arch with water spray seemed to be the favorite feature for Arlo. Hopefully we can get out there at least one or two more times before summer is out. The best part is it is FREE and there is plenty of grassy area to set up a blanket and picnic! There is also a playground adjacent and plenty of open space too. Just head East on Iliff, past Tower and you'll run into it!
Here's a few photos I snapped...
