I feel like we have been hibernating and now these past couple of days, as the sun has decided to show itself again here in Colorado, we have emerged from hiding and been energized! Sure, I really DO love taking the girls to different story times, but I feel like they have been getting a little stir crazy too. We prefer to be outdoors and in parks and this past Tuesday, we were so grateful to have been invited by a story time pal to go with he and his mum to the Denver Botanic Gardens! We had gone a little too early in the season a couple months ago, as seen here, but now the grounds look completely filled in and colorful and totally alive!
We started off the day by heading across the street and above the parking garage to the Children's Botanic Garden area. If you haven't yet been up there, check it out! Kids LOVE it! There is a little natural rock river area where they can get wet, we weren't prepared for that part well enough, and there is an area for digging in the dirt, and also a suspension bridge, that Remy SO wanted to go bounce on but we wanted to get a stroll in so we side tracked her with a lollipop to go over to the "grown up" side.
I would highly recommend bringing your kiddo in a waterproof and sun proof attire, and HAT, plus sunblock! Also, the proper footwear! I really, really, REALLY am in need of investing in a good waterproof and child friendly pair of water shoes or sandals for Miss Remy. Preferably something skid proof, breathable, and dare I say, cute... Any ideas? With all these splash pads and playgrounds we need something SOON!
We ate a little snack and hydrated with water in a bit of shade, not much in the river/digging area, and did diaper changes and then headed over to the Denver Botanic gardens for a stroll. Arlo napped and Remy actually was a little pooped from the sun and play and stayed in the stroller without a fuss while mom and friend strolled and caught up. Miracle! Right around the time we came back around to the front she almost lost it and started to get antsy so we decided to let them loose from the stroller by the grassy pit area to run around. There were school aged kids on a summer camp field trip and I could see Remy running right up to the girls as if she belonged to them as I sat in the grass and tried to nurse Arlo. She is NOT a great nurser on the go- too many distractions. We decided to call it a day, after a couple of hours.
They napped very well that day! So so happy both of my babies love the outdoors!
Here are couple of pics from the day. Baby toes, baby teeth, and Remy's elbow dimples...I want to savor these moments!
