Just when I thought I had been to all the museums in Denver, my neighbors and friends had opened my eyes to one of the best kept secrets in the Denver Metro area- Littleton Museum! Thanks Holly and Krystal! It is a teeny tiny little museum, but the grounds are the real attraction! They have antique buildings setup to replicate life on the farms from the 1800's. I took the girls out there a couple of weeks ago, just as spring was starting to blossom. Perfect farm weather to stroll around Little Museum's farm life.
We also caught the Blacksmith that day! He did a little presentation on what it meant to be a Blacksmith and even put a poker in his fire and twisted the metal. This bearded Blacksmith had a captivated audience in my two girls!
I don't remember ever visiting the Littleton Museum as a kiddo, but I am very glad and thankful that I am able to take the places like this now. I know this may not always be the case, of me being able to stay home with them until they are in school, but I feel truly blessed that I have been afforded this luxury of time with them. Complete and utter, undivided attention on these two girls over the last four years has been a life experience that I never could have imagined happening. You know how you can picture yourself working for a company, or maybe what it might be like to take a vacation somewhere you have been obsessively pinning about, well there is no magical Pinterest board out there to prepare you for motherhood! Thank heavens for that. Haha!
On this particular adventure we had the lovely photographic talents of Melanie Lynn Photography capturing our morning. Melanie jumped right into journaling our day through her lens, and this was our first meeting in person! She totally aced my challenge of presenting her with two tiny, and INSANELY active toddlers with a shuttergbug happy mama chasing behind. There were probably so many things you want to bring up to a photographer before they shoot you and your family for the first time, and I thought about several, after I was driving home that day, but Melanie truly needed minimal art direction with us. She has two little guys of her own so she was actually getting those hide-and-seek shoots of the girls before I could even get around a corner! Here are some of our favorite shots of the morning at Littleton Museum. Thank you, Melanie for these memories! You can see her work on her site, Melanie Lynn Photography, and contact her directly for booking there.
Both girls are wearing vintage/thrifted and handmade smocked dresses. Here is one VERY similar to Arlo's blue dress. And this yellow one is DARLING and less than $20! They are both wearing Hunter boots, which we wear with EVERYTHING, and I would definitely recommend wearing these or something similar out there! I am wearing a jumpsuit from Anthropologie, and very much eye balling this jumpsuit from there for summer- cropped culotte! I am also a big time hat lover...this is one I thrifted, green silk straw hat from Patricia Underwood, how amazing is this white one for the Kentucky Derby?! AND this one from Rag & Bone is killer! My boots are Dolce Vita, similar here, and my bag is Target, but basically it is the much less expensive version of one of my favorite handbag designers, Rebecca Minkoff. Get the real deal here.
