Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Mini Adventure: The Source Denver

Mini Adventure: The Source Denver

Last week I got dressed! I mean, I actually put on a dress, heels, a red lip, and attempted a hairstyle other than a sloppy top knot.  No elastic waistband!  This post sort of reminded me of one I had done last year called Two Hour Dress, because here I am again, in the thick of breastfeeding every 2-3 hours, and fumbling through a full closet but nothing to wear.  If you thought getting dressed in the morning was tough, throw in a postpartum bod and the need to be able to expose your bosoms to breastfeed.  This is another one of those two hour dresses.  I had just enough time to feed her, get us all ready and to our destination, enjoy our morning a bit and drive home just in time to strip down to my skivvies and feed a ravenous baby again.  In fact, she didn't quite make it home.  We were a few blocks away when the fussing turned into crying.

I decided to take the girls on a mini adventure downtown to The Source, which is about to celebrate their 1 year anniversary!  The ironic thing is, last year, around this same time, husband and I had visited The Source for the first time with Remy when she was about 6 months old!  So here I am, a year later, this time with a 17 month old, PLUS a 6 week old on my hips, or in a stroller.

I was recently introduced to Daren Nkomo, a really talented photographer who so kindly agreed to snap the girls to add to his "family" portfolio pics.  This guy has such an eye, and a knack for kids!  Remy flirted with Daren and his camera the entire morning while Arlo and I chased behind.  We had coffee and chai lattes from Boxcar Coffee and then popped into Babette's for fresh cinnamon rolls and a chocolate croissant for the Remster.  The Source was an exploration and discovery sesh for my toddler.  Seeing the cinnamon rolls actually being rolled out and cut right there in the open space before being popped in the over, and we held small, bumpy squash and tickled sticky succulent plants, (a lesson on texture) in Beet & Yarrow floral shop.  We played in the general store, pointing at "CHEESE!" in the case and grabbing handfuls of tiny hard candies in the bucket just within her little arm's reach.  We took our mini party outside and Remy spotted a "DOG!" and had to bend down to try to pick it up and give it kisses.

Daren captured the morning beautifully and I am so thankful for the introduction Nissa!  Also, that snazzy tee Remy is wearing, "Live, Laugh, Love," and those teeny tiny tribal leggings were generous gifts from the adorable online shop Sugarplum Lane Boutique!  You can enter the raffle below for a chance at picking out something sweet for your own sugarplum, or a gift,  just in time for the upcoming holidays!  One $30 gift card to their shop is up for the winning.  Entries need to be in by Sunday, Nov. 2nd.  Contest after photos.

Full Disclosure:

What you see below: Beautiful pictures capturing all smiles.

What you don't see:  Me trying to feed a bottle of cold breast milk to a fussing baby in the parking lot only to yell at the top of my lungs to Remy who is running towards a car backing up and was swooped up by a stranger.  Me trying to put a tantrum-throwing-toddler into her Cheerio filled car seat before we left, and massive croissant crumbs and yogurt stuck all over everything.  Just sharing that it is fun to play dress up, but the behind the scenes isn't that pretty always.  :)  Remy had fun and she sure gave the people sitting around t=The Source that day something to talk about and smile at.

Remy is wearing: Genuine Kids by Osh Kosh fur vest from Target, "Live, Love, Laugh" tee from Sugarplum Lane Boutique, Floral Leggings by Carter's, shoes from Payless Shoe Source. Arlo wears: "A is for Awesome" tee from Gap Kids, Tribal Leggings from Sugarplum Lane Boutique, baby sneakers from Target. Momma wears: Thrifted dress, Dolce Vita ankle boots, earrings from Cat Bird and zodiac ring from Local Charm in Park Meadows.
