Denver's Union Station Splash Pad & Milkbox Creamery
Last Thursday we took advantage of the heat we were experiencing here in Denver and took a little trip downtown to the splash pad outside Union Station Denver! I first saw this splash fountain area the week before when I went gallery hopping along Wazee Street with my sister in law and I made a mental note to bring the girls back. This wasn't spouting water when I first took the girls to see Union Station last fall, so it must be new or just seasonal.
I always say something downtown is meant to be when we find good parking, and this day we found GREAT parking! Curbside, right in front of the place! We popped enough change in the meter for a couple hours and strolled over to the water. Remy ran from one end to the other and Arlo had fun leaning forward and looking into the lights of where the water came out. Arlo crawled right into the sprays and made little fists and growled with excitement!
It was pretty darn hot so the water felt really good on mama too! One of the things about splash pads and kids is that mama inevitably has to get wet, at least a little. We headed inside to Milkbox for some ice cream. They scoop up Little Man Ice Cream brand, and I don't remember it being THIS GOOD, but it was delicious!
We had a scoop of Vegan Banana Chip- so full of flavor! We also had a scoop of Space Junkie which was black cherry and bits of brownie and marshmallows, I believe. I am salivating thinking about it... I could eat ice cream every night, and when we have it in the house, WE DO. Eek!
I grabbed an iced coffee from Pigtrain Coffee on the way out, husband waited for me outside and took Remy by the water one last time. It had stopped by the time we came back out, so I am not sure if they are a lunch time thing or not. We went down there around 12:30-2 ish.
To say the girls were tired when we left was an understatement. A successful family date for the books before husband goes back to work. Hoping to squeeze in a couple more little activities with him before he goes back to work; those teacher schedules are pretty nice!
(I am wearing a top by GSus Industries from a LONG time ago, from a boutique that used to be on Larimer called Square One, sandals are Steve Madden from Ross, and thrifted "mom" shorts by Brittania. Remember that brand?! Remy's swim suit is by Floatimini- LOVE this line of swimmies! You can find a current version similar here and it's only $25! Arlo's romper is from TJ Maxx. Remy's shoes are by Native- THE PERFECT water park shoe, and Arlo's jellies are Baby Gap, handed down from Remy.)
