Took the girls to a pumpkin patch just up the street from our house yesterday afternoon. We had a GLORIOUS morning, super lazy one, where we watched a few too many cartoons, had cocoa before breakfast and stayed in our jammies until noon. I can never LAZE too long before I think of something I HAVE to do. Yesterday was going to get a prescription, which wasn't even ready yet. But by golly, we got all dressed up, the same exact clothing as the day before, they were already washed and dried, but I just loved those outfits on them so much they had to be documented!
I was thinking we would end up going to Sprouts market for some food and see a pumpkin there, but then as I was getting ready I had a flashback to a patch just on the way to the pharmacy that had been there last year! The church pumpkin patch is where it is at guys! Apparently it is the third year Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church has held their pumpkin patch and some of the funds, as I learned from Larry, go towards a mission they have in Romania, a farm for orphans called, Caminul Felix. I was just having an amazing convo with him about German culture and other cool things when the girls were crying over something and I had to abruptly end that, such is a momma's life....a bunch of bits and pieces of adult conversations.
We were the only ones there and it was perfect weather! We probably could have used light sweaters or jackets over, but they refused. Of course as we were leaving the sun came out strong and we didn't end up needing the extra layer. Anyone else think pumpkin picking is the worst when the sun is blazing down on you?! We found a great one after a few pats, pick-ups, (and drops, sorry!) and runs down the lanes. She was orange, smallish to just big enough for them, and all of four bucks. These two couldn't get any happier when we were there! Both seemed to have caught the fall stuffy nose, but they dashed around smiling ear to ear. Arlo actually did end up kicking herself out of the bounce house and declaring, "I don't feel gooood..." in the saddest little voice. That was a FIRST for voluntarily leaving one of those!
We're not sure what we will do with this pretty punkin', and we might need to find a couple more, but she's our first of the season so that makes her pretty special! The best part of all, at least for these two, was that small bouncy house! Remy and Arlo did find some orange berries and handed me tiny florets of them which was solo sweet, but then right when you thank them and ooh and agh over that, your gathering your purse and you catch them kicking pumpkins like soccer balls! These girls! They move SO fast! As soon as we got there they were running and grabbing and giggling and of course wanted to bypass all orange globes and go straight for that bounce house, but I convinced them to snap a couple photos and pick out a special pumpkin first. They couldn't get their shoes off fast enough to get in there and bounce their little tooshies off. NO lines, and NO entrance fee, and I thought about it minutes before we left the house at noon. Turned out to be the perfect pumpkin patch to kick off our October with.
Excited for fall and all the HAPPY things this season brings, especially with these two beautiful girls around.
Wearing: I am wearing a vintage Guess skirt (similar luxury level and similar but shorter and only $28!) and striped top from H&M (similar). Remy and Arlo are both wearing vintage, similar overalls and similar floral style dress.
