Hello! I took a mini blogging break...slowly getting back to it and catching up. We just got back from a long weekend on the East coast, a no-kids trip, and before that I had a crazy tummy bug or something for like a week and half that had me completely down and out. Just now feeling somewhat up and at 'em.
A few weeks ago, before the stomach went kerplunk on me, I took the girls by our local green house, Nick's Garden Center. We took them last year around this time too. It's so close to us, and I love that we had the entire place to ourselves on a weekday before naps. If you have been to Nick's Garden on a Saturday or Sunday during October it would be much busier than what you see in these pics. They have roasted corn and chills and they have a little fresh produce grocer in there too. Mums, trees, pots, a great place to get something for the yard.
This particular day, we were pushing the day a little long, so they were a little sleepy, but we still had a nice time wandering around, looking at all the varieties of pumpkins, Cinderella's are my favorite I think, and even washing up a couple. There was spooky sounds playing and fun Halloween jams so we danced in the aisles to Monster Mash before picking up some local peaches, Peach Butter, honey and honey sticks. We skipped the popcorn, but interested in giving it a try next time.
They had humongous pumpkins, like a half ton, on display by different growers. I sat Remy on one for a photo and right after she slid right off of it and bumped Arlo into the display ropes and the whole thing came crashing down, oops! There was a talking pumpkin telling jokes and around the back by the trees there was a recording of witch cackles that were pretty fun to tease the girls with and pretend that she lived in a greenhouse back there.
We didn't even actually pick up any pumpkins this day, we just had fun checking them out. They are too young to carve, but we did get them two mini pumpkins and Remy colored on them with markers and put stickers on them. I hope to get out there more with the girls, beyond the Halloween season too.
I am wearing Diesel jeans from at least 12 years ago, a blouse from Anthropologie, Toms wedges, thrifted hat and Michael Kors sunglasses. Arlo is wearing a thrifted Gap dress and Freshly Picked moccasins. Remy is wearing a thrifted Gap top and thrifted skirt and Freshly Picked moccasins.
