The best time to get a scoop of ice cream is when its 25 degrees out and you need your snow boots! No lines! With husband working and after being a little cooped up with this snow and getting these kiddos well, I decided to take the girls for a treat.
We bundled up in hats and tights and boots and headed over to Hilltop to High Point Creamry on Holly and Cedar. There weren't any lines which was perfect for hoisting Remy up on my hip to taste test several flavors before deciding on Blueberry Lemon. Of course she would go for that one wearing a new white sweater that is most likely ruined from blueberry drips... Good thing it was 35 cents! I discovered an incredible new thrift store in Aurora and the infants clothes were on sale, three pieces for 99 cents!!! The white sweater was one of those finds...
Sigh... next time I'll encourage the carrot cake.
It was very good, and made right there. You'll pay the premium though. $2.95 for a tiny baby scoop. $8.95 for their pints. They have some interesting flavors and collaborations with local restaurants like one with Tag, a cheesecake with apricot, way too rich for my liking. They had a coffee flavor too using local Corvus coffee.
It is worth another trip for me. I would like to take hubby sometime for the more unusual flavors. Of course, being a form Dairy Queen girl (my first job), I will always love a vanilla soft serve hot fudge sundae from DQ, and why do they taste better with those red spoons?
What's your favorite ice cream shop around town?
(Please excuse the blown out images below...I am practicing with my new flash, a Christmas present from hubby, and apparently I don't know how to use it very well...yet)
