This morning I had a dentist appointment. Still livin' sugar bug-free over here! Woop! When I got home, we got the girls dressed up in spring dresses and headed to Park Meadows for a visit with the Easter Bunny! So of course, I am standing bare buns in my closet this morning wondering what one wears for a day of having latex wrapped fingers prodding around my mouth for an hour in the a.m., and then wanting to get thematic with Easter and spring for Mr. Long Ears when the forecast was calling for sleet. Hmmm... style challenge...
Step in, the vintage office girls' spring suit! Shoulder pads, pleats, sailor buttons and crepe polyester fabric included. Add on white, dad sneaks and you've got yourself an ugly 80's, race-to-the-bus-after-work gettup. It reminded me of the opening of one of the Sex and the City movies. The one where Carrie introduces her friends and how they all met. Well, picture the scene of Miranda lugging her briefcase on a busy New York city street and fumbling with loose papers set back in the 80's wearing something nearly identical to this. You're welcome.
I was actually and totally, in love with this look! A proper photo session was a must after my six month dental cleaning. My dentist's parking lot next to a construction zone was almost the most perfect setting ever. For the guy using the fork lift on that hill up there, you're welcome. To the man who stopped me and asked if I was taking "progression shots" of the construction, wherein I answered, "nope, just shooting because it's a cool background," and he followed it up with advice that I should take progression images and come back every two weeks to do so and contact the construction and contract companies and sell the images to them; to him, you're welcome, Sir. You see, it looks as though, if you really look, my blue under garments were a brilliant choice for this tan and white light weight springy suit, no?
Anyway, I was tres COMFY alllll day AND the hygienist complimented me, as did the woman working at the Disney Store who also mentioned she had went form 230 some pounds to her current svelte self and she has been looking for a suit like this. Well, you can find such awesomeness if you really DO NOT look hard enough, thrifting. I heart thrifting. I can't remember if this was an Arc or a Goodwill find from a couple weeks ago. Nevertheless, I can tell you it was definitely less than $10. Wait, I DO remember now, it was the Arc! I remember talking with a woman in line before I bought it. She asked if I found anything good that day and I held it up for her and she said she loved it and that it could be perfect for Easter. I will give a little disclaimer, two out of the three women who complimented me today were probably my age when this sort of suit first came to popularity the FIRST time over, but hey...style is style.
So, we did get the snow today. We also got photos with the Easter Bunny just BEFORE the snow came in! NO line too, might I add! Arlo was DARLING as she approached and felt up his furry cheek. Remy got shy and had her bitty hands perched nervously by her tiny little perfect pout and had sparkly little smile eyes the entire time. (See Insta Stories!) I put in a good word for the girls, even mentioned how Remy cleaned up her room today. I think he definitely has plans of hopping through our back yard this Sunday. Just hope he doesn't leave any little Sixlet-sized pellets for me. Wink, wink.
I have loose ideas of how to finish up our "spring," very much feeling like winter, break over here and looking forward to April! All set for Easter here! I may post some of their goodies on stories as I NEED to sort it all out, also figuring out how and where to fit in MORE photos of the girls in spring dresses with bunny ears because you know what happens next year, they'll be taller, leaner, older, sigh.... My years of getting them to willingly slide on hosiery or lace trimmed socks and dressy shoes are probably nearer than I'd like to even think about. Although, I do have a couple girls who HATE jeans, pants, shorts, and overalls on my hands. Never know, next year we just may do petticoats and pinafores.
Regardless of the snow shoveling and the need to take my broom to the snow slathered satellite every couple hours due to tv scrambling, it IS spring, so happy Easter-candy-eating season to me, and YOU! About to break out the Mini Cadbury Creme Eggs carton...
Wearing: Vintage suit by none other than Casusal Corner, but check out this pretty damn cute version by St. John! Adidas sneakers, Target sunnies and Balenciaga suede bucket bag from over a decade ago, but LOVE this moto black leather option. Monogram letter "G" necklace, heirloom from my grandma Georgiana.
