Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Stirrup Pants and Stretching

Stirrup Pants and Stretching

Have you ever worn a pair of pants that made you want to do ballet stretches?

Well, I found a pair of high waist, black and white gingham check, cotton stirrup pants, with a tapered leg that made me move and bend like a ballerina. Picked this roomy pair of pants from the Goodwill thrift in Castle Rock, Colorado last week! I actually found this perfect pink sweater at a Goodwill in Denver a few weeks ago and it was the first time I wore either piece.

I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards a wedge shoe, my least favorite shoe really, but these silly little things have somehow managed to stay in my closet this long and I don’t know, something about the shimmery heel tying in with the sequins in the sweater made me grab for them. Another styling thing I don’t really do is the black with brown thing, but here I am doing it, and I don’t hate it. I think the brown is dark enough you can’t really tell the small check is black. Maybe you can. Don’t know. I think I felt confident about the brown shoes because something about this earthy mauve tone sweater made it work.

My six year old daughter hates my hair like this and requested I stop doing the buns and leave it down. I volunteered in her art class yesterday, wearing this very hairstyle and last night she said her friend in class didn’t like it and asked, “Does she like buns or something?” Six year old sartorialists.

This was the perfect, cozy, outfit to wear for a day of thrifting today! It was cool, and gray here in Denver and maybe a high of sixty degrees. Perfect intro, October. I love fall and have been waiting for this weather! Of course it’s supposed to be in the seventies tomorrow again, but when I woke up to this forecast, it just felt like kismet for thrifting Halloween costumes for the girls.

I can’t wait to wear this sweater more this season. It wasn’t itchy whatsoever, and it was breathable and cool, if you can believe that. Also, shoulder pads. It’s almost like I can’t wear a top without them lately. Same? I was happy it was the perfect length and thin enough to just barely tuck into the high waist. It’ll be a great topper to some skirts I have thrifted since last fall.

I did want to end with an invitation for you all who might be here in the Denver metropolitan area. On Thursday, October 10th, myself and eight other major thrifters will be at the Goodwill in Castle Rock to hang and shop with anyone who wants to learn our thrifting tips, AND also shop the curated racks we have pulled specifically for this party. We all shopped the Goodwill ahead of time, don’t worry, they reached out for us to do this, I have got asked that a few times, and we each have such a uniques set of styling eyes, that we have all pulled our favorites and have them saved for all of you. Thrifting is fun, affordable, and great for the environment and community. I can’t wait to get to exercise my stylist and retail chops for everyone who comes on October 10th! Here’s more details here about Goodwill’s Shop n’ Share event.

October is off to a great start!

Wearing: Thrifted sweater (similar), pants (similar) and belt (similar). Shoes are Cynthia Vincent from a million years ago, but these are cool!
