Style: Mom Jeans
Grab your best pair of mom jeans and put them in your closet rotation! It's no secret by now I am a thrifter.
It isn't typical lately that I actually get to look in MY section most trips though. Usually it's straight to the children's section, books, sometimes I scope out furniture and, if I think of it, the craft section. Now that Christmas decor is in full force, the thrift store is THE place to check FIRST for strings of bulb lights, ornaments, wreaths, mantle pieces, stockings, you name it...
This past weekend I had the luxury, YES, luxury to go by myself for an hour and a half or so, and I STARTED by looking for sweaters for me. It was fun! Somehow, even as a Colorado native, I have like eight sweaters. We just have so much sunshine and nice days, and I am not one for bulky sweaters, but here I was flipping through racks of wool and acrylic sweaters. I actually did scoop up a cream one by L.L. Bean, 100% wool. Definitely one for those below freezing days.
Back to the jeans. I NEVER look at jeans at the thrift store, but seeing all these "mom" jeans popping up on the street style seen, got my wheels turning to check out the denim rack. I was looking for light blue wash, a high rise, and a peg leg, or ankle length. I found what I was looking for, almost, in this pair of Bill Blass vintage pair. They have pleats in the front which I don't LOVe, but I actually don't MIND once they are on. The legs are a little loose fitting, blousy almost, but still I feel comfy in them. Still on the hunt for my perfect pair of "mom" or "hipster" jeans (whichever direction you want to go on the look.) In the meantime, I have had fun styling these with tall clogs, flat loafers, and I am looking forward to more looks with this solid pair of jeans. best part? No crack when I'm kneeling and chasing the girls!
I am wearing vintage thrifted jeans by Bill Blass, a blouse by Custo Barcelona from our honeymoon trip to Barcelona back in 2011, and Nine West clogs- so comfy! I wore this look all day, heels included and it felt fun to wear something, new to me, and fun.
