Style: Neon and Oxfords
Last Friday I took the girls over to Colfax for churros and popsicles, you can see that post here. This is what I wore. A BRIGHT-ass-pink, vintage shift dress. One that Arlo ALWAYS grabs at in my closet and pulls on it as if to say, "This one momma!" So I indulged Arlo's fashion fantasy, my 18 month old, and wore this dress. I DO love this dress, and I used to wear it to an office job. I've had it for years, and its a good one, I'll probably never let go of it. Maybe I'll give it to Arlo when she's grown. I LOVE the idea of hanging onto sentimental things or at least keeping it to see if they might like it. I wished my mom had saved some of her things from growing up!
The last time I remember wearing this dress was actually when I was about 8 months pregnant with Arlo too! I remember that day because it was a birthday or celebratory party in a friend's back yard, and I was chasing Remy around and sweating my patootie off. This is a KNOT dress. Whew!
BUT, it was the PERFECT choice for last Friday's Mexican bakery voyage and it complimented the crisp, Colorado spring morning perfectly. I did bare legs and then... I did a little something "confusing," on the bottom- (THANKS for the insp Leandra Medine!) and I wore thes brown slip-on OXFORDS that I love and my own momma LOATHES. She actually asked me if they were for REAL and if I TRULY "liked," them. Um... YEAH!!!
I found these guys at a Dress for Success sale a couple years ago for like $5. I'm not even sure of the brand, but they remind me of the ultra hip Fred Salvador things that all the hip mommas and bloggers are wearing over in Northern Cal.
So, I implore you all to do a little something confusing with your styling this week! Meaning, this dress might have worked better with a nude pump, or a black gladiator sandal, (as I wore when I was preggo), or I don't know, maybe a white sneaker or some silky ballet flats... but instead I chose dark brown, borderline menswear oxfords. I LOVED it. I felt great. I was comfy. I like these shoes guys! For real!
