Style: Play With Me!
I first heard about Sonnet James through a blog I follow, and then another blog, and then Instagram, and then I found myself on their website watching their Kickstarter campaign video, and fell for the company and what it stands for. Whitney's approach to motherhood, getting down on the ground on her boys' level and her philosophy that we as parents will only be invited into their adventures for so long was so impactful and meaningful to me. I very much believe that you have a lifetime to WORK, but a very SHORT window to have a family. There is still a career and work to be done in my lifetime, but right now, it is ALL about my two beautiful, giggly, crazy baby girls, and I am 100% happy with that. On the way to an interview the other day I passed by a mother and a friend pushing a double stroller holding a hot coffee and a dog on a leash waiting to cross the street. I drove further towards my downtown destination and saw another mother strolling her neighborhood with her baby in a carrier talking to another woman. On down the street I passed a park and saw a father kicking a soccer ball with two young kids. All of these flags were going off in my brain that I have the BEST job in the world already and where I belong right now is at home or at the park with them. Wherever my girls are, I need to be right there with them. Hoisting them into swings, gathering them up from a fall, picking out baby pine cones and searching for rolly pollys.
I am a mom of two young girls. I am THAT mom who misses a button, or two or three, after breastfeeding at the park. I am the mom with yogurt in my hair. I am that mom with leaves in my pockets and stuck to my rear. I am that mom who has tripped wearing a pair of heels and catching a toe on a sidewalk while pushing a stroller. I am a GIRL who loves to dress for the day. I am a GIRL who likes to feel put together. I find that I can still be that MOM and that GIRL in this "Piper" Play dress by Sonnet James, and I thank Whitney for creating this line of Play dresses to go on adventures in.
You can see just how playful the company is by following them on Instagram, @sonnetjames, and see more of our silliness at @haleebandhoney too! Oh, and right now they are hosting a lip synch contest on Instagram so if you are THAT mom singing out loud with your kiddos around the house or in the car, submit your best performance!
I am wearing the Piper dress c/o Sonnet James, which is also breast feeding friendly, and also an appropriate length for kneeling down! My sandals are Matthew Bernson from a Dress for Success sale a few years ago, only $5!!! But I have my eye on his new line, especially THESE! Remy is wearing purple overall shorts by French Toast (apparently a school uniform brand???) and a Circo tank top, both thrifted, and Native shoes. Arlo is wearing a thrifted Gap dress.
