Style: The Rachel
This isn't an earth shattering look, none of my style posts are, but it was worth sharing because I was so darn happy to get up and get dressed in this look the other day! Here I am, six months in on breastfeeding baby number two and I open my closet and I literally have less than a handful of pieces I can wear, and take half of those away due to weather constraints. I can't tell you what in the heck I did for a year with Remy. What was I wearing?!
So I apparently didn't invest in any breastfeeding-friendly clothing that time around because I was positive that the next time I would be in that place I would have surely had a job and some budget for such clothing the second time around. WRONG! It all happened so fast! I was back in maternity garb and then scrummaging for post partum clothes and now I find myself hoisting up tight fitting tees or yanking down on the necks of tops, and trying to cover my rear end in the meantime.
So back to this look, what I like to call "The Rachel." Doesn't this look like something the Friends star would prance into that purple apartment wearing? A totally nineties throwback, the denim vest, the sweet tiny floral print dress, but I don't care. I love it! It's also super comfy and the dress has buttons so I was ready to whip out a boob! It felt fun and fresh to have bare legs this week and to be in something that I actually was happy to put on.
So denim vests are a thing... the Madewell catalog in my mailbox this week said so, and so does my Instagram feed. Anyway, remember that new thrift store I was telling you about? Well, both of these pieces were scores from there. I thrifted for myself once! Shocker! The dress is by The Limited and the vest is a classic, by Levi's. Both cost less than $10 together.
So, my goal now is to build up a section of the closet to be breastfeeding-friendly. I have six more months of breastfeeding, all of that being spring and summer so dresses, rompers, overalls, light weight button down blouses with skirts are on my mind...
What do you think of the denim vest?
Oh, and since it is no secret that I am WAY more interested in shopping for my girls and dressing them than myself, and I don't want to clutter up my Instagram feeds and alienate all of you, I updated my Pinterest boards for Remy and Arlo's "Outfits of the Day," if you care to peek at their baby steeze.
