Glad you found us!

I don't ski, I don't drink craft beer and I don't have a dog, but by golly I am a real Colorado native girl.  So now you can still believe in unicorns!  Here's my ode to motherhood, you know because all of us bloggers write like we were the first, only and last mama out there.

Sunday Evening Post

Sunday Evening Post

The Sunday before last we headed downtown for some Shish Kabob Grill on Colfax, and polished off the gorgeous summer evening with our favorite splash pad outside Union Station and ice cream. If you haven't ever tried a gyro sandwich from Shish Kabob Grill, you are missing out!  The family owned restaurant is one of our favorites and it is also Syrian owned and the family is also doing all the cooking and running of the business.  My dad actually told us about this place a few years ago when we were living downtown.  He used to go to the cathedral a block away.  Then husband and I really fell for the place, supplement the fries for her rice!  We got the official vouch of greatness from husband's momma!  We have taken her to eat there and she has requested to go back!  This is saying something, EVERYTHING< because his mom does not eat other people's food and HATES eating at restaurants!  So, it's good guys...

We decided to take it to go and head straight to the splash pads outside Union Station.  Free parking downtown on Sundays meant we found a meter right behind Union Station near these new corporate offices.  We decided to eat outside the new Colorado Athletic Club where it was quiet, and there weren't any pedestrians or distractions of the water fountains to keep the girls from eating.  WRONG!  They found games in playing Ring Around the Rosies around a giant statue and kept climbing up onto these benches and jumping off.  A bite here, a hop there...husband and I chasing them around with spoons of rice and meat.  We totally looked homeless out there I am sure.  The girls were in their swim attire and we were eating out of aluminum foil and styrofoam packaging and food was all over the place... Haha!  The people coming out of the gym were probably wondering why security wasn't all over us...

I LOVE this evening light!  If we happen to be out in it at this magical time, even better!  This summer solidified our little families affection for Union Station and this little area of downtown.  To me it's significant because husband loves it just as much as the girls and I... so it's a win all around.

P.S. Remy's New Balance sneakers were found thrifting for $6 a couple Saturdays ago!  SCORE! #ilovethrifting
